Potbelly Pig
Rescued January 10, 2021
6/4/2016 – 7/11/2025
Link came to live with us thanks to the Harford County Humane Society in Maryland. He was very outgoing and loved to be very close to you when in the pen. (Learn more about his history: Harford County Humane Society Helps Three Pigs Come to Piggins and Banks)
On July 11, 2025, Link was found outside where he always sleeps in the summer, having passed away peacefully at night. He looked so peaceful that at first we thought he was just waiting to get up for breakfast…but then realized he had left us.
Not knowing his true age as with rescues it is always an estimate, we do know that he was quite older as he was missing most of his premolar and molar teeth as pointed out during his last vet examination (this happens with older pigs as they age).
Link’s body was taken to All Pets Cremation Center, where he was cremated and ashes buried in “Tulip’s Meadow”, our memorial garden here at the sanctuary.
Link leaves behind his very best friend Zelda. They lived together since coming to Piggins and Banks in January 2021 from The Humane Society of Harford County. Zelda is doing okay as she has the company of other pig friends Junebug and Kevin nearby. We do plan to explore placing another pig in with her in the near future for additional company.
One of our best memories of Link was that his nickname was “Treat Hog” because he would hold open his mouth expecting a treat to fall into it anytime you were around him.
Rest in peace, Link.
