Petunia and Lily from Amelia, Virginia Join the Piggins and Banks Family

Two new residents have arrived to Piggins and Banks! We would like to extend a warm welcome to Petunia and Lily who come from the Amelia, Virginia area just outside Richmond.

Rescued by their current family who had them for roughly a year, life got in the way (two little children and a pen in which the pigs kept escaping) which led them to search out a new home for Petunia and Lily. Here’s the original post we saw on Facebook of the “Just Mini Pigs – Rehome Pigs” group:

After talking with the family, they decided Piggins and Banks would be a perfect place for Petunia and Lily to come live. On Sunday, December 20, 2020 Aaron and Christie made the 7 hour round trip to Amelia, VA to pick up both pigs in our trailer. It took some coaxing and gentle wrangling using a sorting board, but after a few muddy minutes we had both pigs safely loaded and secured into the trailer for the trip home.

Let’s meet both pigs!

Petunia

Petunia is an estimated 5 years old. She is a beautiful Juliana pig. Her previous owner feels she may have been abused at some point because she was always wary of men. However, after a few days here at her forever home, she has already warmed up to The Head Hog and lets him pet her with no problem. We joke that she looks like the girlfriend of our other Juliana pig resident, Tyrion!

Lily

Lily is the more shy of the two, but still outgoing enough to take a treat by hand. She is a potbelly mix and is estimated to be around 2.5 years old at the time of this writing (though we feel like she may be a bit older). She had a weight issue before coming to her previous owner and was even “fat-blind” (unable to see due to rolls of fat covering her eyes). She has lost a good bit of weight under the care of her family and we will continue to feed her a balanced diet to help her continue her weight loss journey.

Your Support Helps Petunia and Lily

We are able to take in pigs like this because of support from people like you! Every pig we take in results in another mouth to feed, veterinary appointment to schedule, and more…all of which cost money. Please consider making a small donation or even sponsoring Petunia or Lily as a virtual pig parent. All donations make a positive difference in the lives of our pig residents.
