We welcome Madison to the Piggins and Banks family!
Madison came from a farm in Gordonsville, Virginia. She was just one of over a hundred pigs living in a bad situation with uncontrolled breeding and unsuitable living conditions. While the previous owner was good-intentioned, due to his failing health, what began as a dozen pigs quickly doubled and tripled leading to a plea to the public to step in and help.
Mrs. Head Hog heard that there was a particular adorable little pink pig expecting piglets any day. With no appropriate place to safely deliver her piglets in the cold, the situation was dire for the unborn piglets. It was decided that we must step in and help.
Madison was named on her ride home to Piggins and Banks. As Mrs. Head Hog and her sister chauffeured the sweet little pink pig to her new home, the first town they passed was Madison and the name just stuck. Upon arriving, she was given the warmest and best spot in the barn to settle in comfortably.
After just ten days, Madison gave birth to 6 precious piglets on New Years Eve. They are all doing wonderfully and will have a forever home here full of love and care. Here are the piglets nursing only hours after being born:
Update: March 2021
Of the six piglets born from Madison’s litter, two sadly passed away after a few weeks (which sadly happens sometimes despite our best efforts to keep them alive). However four survived and have grown up to be healthy residents of the Piggins and Banks family: Tiny, Mo, Kasey, and Tulip.
Your Support Helps Madison and Her Babies
We are able to take in pigs like this because of support from people like you! Every pig we take in results in another mouth to feed, veterinary appointment to schedule, and more…all of which cost money. Please consider making a small donation or even sponsoring Madison as a virtual pig parent. All donations make a positive difference in the lives of our pig residents.
